It at first,extended from earth, to the sun, and to the asteroid field. But as pirate organization grew and colonies were being destroyed, the world nation government realized it couldn't control such a large amount of space all at once. One pirate organization stopped destroying the colonies and started to capture them and seized an area of space in which they now call the White Fang Colony Area. The World Nation government withdrew its forces until they controlled a mere 30 systems. The colony they abandoned either became pirate colonies, became independent colonies, or were destroyed. The independent colonies that survived were outraged at the fact the world nation withdrew its forces. Since at this time there were many independent colonies and so few were destroyed, other governments formed such as the Space Federation and Zeon and they withdrew in the area of space known as the outer sphere.
The world nation government then started to preach about peace across the galaxy and gave more freedom to civilian space travelers. Pirate clans subsided as they no longer has a reason to be mad and the inner sphere of the galaxy was brought at peace for a while.During this time of peace all weapon were banned. Not even the pirate organization White Fang, which established itself as a successful government, had no need for weapons. Over the course of history, many other government were formed and more independent colonies were created. As more governments formed, they almost had conflicts with the world nation laws. They hated how much freedom the world nation government gave people and tightened the laws even further.
Old pirate organizations formed again and this time, many colonies were destroyed. All the governments blamed the world nation for this outbreak but the world nation chief at this time, gave powerful and moving evidence that is was actually the strict laws of the other governments which caused the pirate organizations to form again.,
All the government hated each other and the weapons called Mobile Suits were created and used. The world nation colony did not adapt to using the weapons until over 40 of there colonies were destroyed killing over 50 billion people. The World Nation then dropped its peaceful ways and fought back against the other governments,
Then in 1800 C.E, the world nation colony called a peace treaty on earth. All the other governments naturally consented as they were also tired of fighting. There on earth, the Great Council was made to watch over the universe and keep the balance of power. The first actions the council created was the banning of mobile suit. The governments stopped making mobile suits and some how, the great council made the pirates stop creating mobile suit too. And the great council also banned the destruction of colonies or the dominating of them. And so, the galaxy was almost a state of peace until 3040 C.E.
